Des Moines Airport Authority Lost and Found Policy
The Des Moines Airport Authority retains items that have been lost in the public areas of the terminal, as well as items left at the Transportation Security Administration or TSA checkpoint. Items that have been turned in to the Des Moines Airport Authority Lost and Found are kept for 30 days with these exceptions:
- All food/beverage items will be disposed of immediately.
- Items that have a foul odor will be disposed of immediately.
- Passports will be mailed to the U.S. Department of State in Sterling, VA, after seven (7) business days.
- Social Security cards will be mailed to the Social Security Department in Baltimore, MD, after seven (7) business days.
Please note: The Des Moines Airport Authority is not responsible for charges incurred by shipping lost items to the rightful owner.
The Des Moines Airport Authority office is located on the second level of the main terminal (pre-TSA checkpoint) in Room 207. Lost and Found is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
