Security Badge Process

GOLD BADGE – Full Perimeter / Movement Area

If obtaining an Airport Id Badge for Full Perimeter access, persons must:

First, obtain and complete Form A. The form must then be signed by the company’s “Authorized Representative”. In addition, the applicant must complete and sign Form B within the presence of a Notary Public. The Notary must stamp the form with their seal (Fees for the notary are the responsibility of the applicant). Form E and the Privacy Act Notice will also need to be completed. Next, the applicant must schedule an appointment to have the Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) completed, via a fingerprint process. Please contact the Airport Badging Office at 515-256-5005 to schedule this fingerprint appointment. The applicant will bring Forms A, B, E & the Privacy Act Notice, as well as two forms of Government issued identification, one having to be a photo ID, to the fingerprinting session. Please reference the Identity and Employment Verification Chart to ensure proper ID is presented at the time of fingerprinting.

The fingerprint results are normally returned to the Airport Badging Office within twenty four hours. In certain circumstances, this process may take longer. In addition to the CHRC, all applications will be submitted to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) so they may conduct a Security Threat Assessment (STA). The processing time for this requirement will take anywhere from three days to two weeks.

Once the background check results have been returned to the Airport Badging Office, the Operations Assistant will call the applicant and set up enrollment in the Security Training Class.

Airport Security Training is conducted on an appointment basis only and is offered via individual computer training located within the Airport Operations office. The applicant must bring photo identification to verify their legitimacy to take the training and check-in at the Airport Badging Office, Room 207, prior to the scheduled appointment.

Once the training has been completed the applicant will be provided his/her Airport Security Identification Badge.

Please reference the Badge Fees to see costs associated with Airport Security Badges. In addition, an $11.00 fee for the Security Threat Assessment processing will be assessed to all Airport ID badges issued.
