Des Moines International Airport (DSM) officials have been notified that starting June 9, Delta Airlines will add an additional daily flight to Atlanta (ATL). The new flight will depart DSM at 3:30 p.m. and arrive at ATL at 6:30 p.m. (all times are local). The new flight will be aboard a 65-seat regional jet equipped with nine first-class seats.

On the same date, Delta will add an additional daily flight to its Detroit (DTW) hub. That will be on a 50-seat regional jet that leaves DSM at 11:45 a.m. and arrives at DTW at 2:36 p.m.

These new flights represent an additional 805 seats departing DSM per week. That amounts to more options for central Iowa air travelers. “This additional service is evidence of Delta’s growing confidence in the Des Moines market,” stated Don Smithey, Aviation Director for the Des Moines International Airport.

Delta Airlines has also announced that they will begin non-stop service to Cincinnati for the summer of 2011.
